You might think, why should I wear clothes when snorkeling? Or why would I put on a shirt? In this article we talk you through the so called "Rash Guards", special UV protective sportswear. To us they feel more comfortable and the stretchy fabrics these days allow for a speedy change anyways. Sweating Whilst the water will cool you down, in warm climates you can still sweat from all the excitement. Besides that, standing on the shore for whatever reason fully dressed isn't exactly fun either. Who likes sweat odor in the end anyways? Luckily a bunch of rash guards these days are able to absorb sweat. Throughout the day you don't have to worry about odors too much. Once you're back home or in your hotel room you simply rinse it and you're done. Staying Wet Once you get out of the water you might want to take these clothes off. However, we ourselves sometimes prefer to leave it on, especially if we're just having a 15 minute break. Sometimes we even chill out on a reef and enjoy the view for a moment. Wearing wet clothes can be annoying, especially on windy days. Using a towel can help partially, but doesn't take away the water completely. Therefore, try to find a product that dries quickly. However, if you're like us, from time to time we travel only with hand luggage. Bringing snorkel gear, clothes, shoes, and all the other stuff that you need can quickly add up. Airports only allow certain sizes and weights when it comes to carry-on luggage. In other words, you might need to skip your favorite cocktail dress if you want to bring a snorkel suit. Expenses Even though a decent guard won't cost you a fortune, buying all snorkel gear at once can result in a good amount of money. If you're on a budget, maybe you're selecting which gear to buy first. Should you go for a suit at all? Do you need one for yourself or does the whole family want one as well? Good quality bodysuits are on sale for about 30 dollars. We guess that's more than enough when it comes to expenses. However, if you go for some of the famous brands you likely pay twice the amount. It all depends on what makes you feel good. If your kids grow, why buy the most expensive one for just a year or so? Things to take into consideration. Final Thoughts Wearing a rash guard may seem like a "luxury item" to have, however, whenever we go on a snorkeling expedition they're literally everywhere. There are a good amount of reasons to get one, not only for adults but just as well for kids. If you only snorkel a few minutes per day whilst on a family holiday, we guess most people don't bring one. Maybe if you or your child has a sensitive skin, sure, it will help definitely. But most of the time we don't come across these swimsuits when we're chilling on the beach. The main reason to get one is it's protection layer. UV light, stings or scratches can really have an impact on your snorkel excursion. Depending on where you are going and on how much snorkeling you're planing to do, maybe this gear will help you out. Last but not least, one final thing to be aware of: If your entire family prefers to wear a rash guard, not only transportation but also carrying your entire collection of snorkel gear to the beach can be a hassle.
